Objective:

A description of the client:

The YKK company is the world's acknowledged leader in the production of zippers. The company's products range widely from regular garment and shoe zippers to special purpose items: heat resistant and dust, gas and water-proof. In Russia, YKK technological zippers, including tent ones, are well known. The company has had its office in Russia for years. Over the time, it has developed a wide-scale local operation importing, exporting and selling merchandise, with its own logistics.

The objectives:

As the YKK company's operation in Russia grew and developed, the outsourcing services provider had to perform various functions whose nature and scale changed repeatedly. In the beginning, the outsourcer was supposed to do elementary financial accounting and tax reporting for the office, conforming to the laws of Russia. Later, as the functioning of the office grew, became more complicated and new processes were introduced, the provider had to perform a number of new accounting operations. The most impact was due to the setup of production and the office's own logistics. Over the time YKK has cooperated with Unicon Outsourcing, the former's turnover in Russia grew manifold and the number of its clients increased significantly. Its personnel department continuously needed consultations related to the specifics of Russia's legislation.

In 2012, the YKK international headquarters decided that accounting functions would be partially performed in-house, the way this is done at YKK's offices across the world.

The solution:

The cooperation of YKK with the service provider developed over several years. Data exchange between the client-provider IT systems and the exchange of primary accounting documents were established. As the client set up new business processes, these exchange functions kept also developing.

In 2012, YKK's, in Russia, in-house accounting department was expanded and the work was distributed between Unicon Outsourcing personnel and YKK in-house accountants. 

The result:

Accounting functions have been partially outsourced. HR recordkeeping is done by the clients own employees. YKK's in-house accounting department also functions while the Unicon Outsourcing is fully responsible for the preparation of tax reports and other permanent interactions with state regulatory agencies.
