How the developers increase the quality of the accountant performance-Publication

Most of our clients, when dealing with the accountant or a BDO HR manager, do not even suspect that a whole team of professionals is working for them. We have decided to tell you who is responsible for the timely report delivery. We start a series of interviews with those who provides support to business processes of the clients: software developers, lawyers, methodologists, quality managers. They will unveil their secrets to you and will share their advice.

Today we talk with Vladimir Simonov, a Head of 1C and Boss-Kadrovik Support Department.

- Vladimir, please tell us what you are doing for the client.

- We set up accounting programs, without which the work of an accountant and a HR manager is impossible. We implement, integrate programs with customer systems, update old versions.

Our task is to reduce the number of manual operations, make the work of an end user more convenient.

One more direction is to develop the new functions. For example, we generate reports that automate the preparation of management accounts and reduce time the accountant spends to do the same. Recently, we talked about the settings that we made for one of our customers from the construction industry. In that case, our improvements made it possible to double reduce the number of accountants who have supported the project (and of course, it affected the project price as well).

We automate the check of input data and calculations, thus increasing the quality of work of accountants and HR-managers. We set up sale equipment, exchange with online stores and logistics companies. It is very interesting.

- I’ve heard that you also teach 1C?

- Yes, it is not enough to just set up the program, it is necessary to teach a user to operate it. That’s why, we conduct trainings for the customer, consult them on how to work with new opportunities.

We also do system administration.

- Just as Matroskin The Cat: and I also know how to sew on a sewing machine...

- No, seriously. Our clients host theirs bases on BDO servers, and such bases should be supported: do updates, archive data, so nothing is lost. This is a large amount of data: at the moment we administer the databases of more than 400 customers. And soon the number of these bases will increase, since BDO will start to sell the service of 1C hosting.

- What is the most difficult in the developer’s work?

- User support. If something went wrong in the program, a client or a BDO accountant immediately calls us. A user can clearly state the complaint, and can release their emotions on you – everything happens. Our task is to select what we need for further work from the information flow. I try to come up with an algorithm of actions that will lead to the result, and to involve the customer into the development.

An outsourcing company developer cannot afford being an introverts, we have to constantly communicate with the clients.

- What do you think about the future of financial systems in general? How will the work with accountants change in the nearest future?

- Of course, we are moving along the path of increasing automation. But nevertheless, at the moment, even at automatic data input, there should be someone, who will interpret these data, for example, say to which cost-centre will any particular expenses recorded, create a new main mean or register a new employee.

For example, we have just set up an automatic preparation of a package of printed forms for several our customers for employment, dismissal and indexation of wages. Let’s say, in the first case, HR-specialists had to create a labour agreement, employment order, personal card T-2 every time. Now these documents are generated automatically, it is enough to enter the employee data into the system.
