From August 11, 2020, amendments to the Labour Code of the Russian Federation entered into force, giving the right to employees aged 40 and over to a release from work for annual medical checkup.

Prior to the entry into force of these amendments, the employer had to release from work to undergo medical examination the employees aged 40 and over only once every three years. Now, such employees have received the right to be released from work for these purposes once a year.
We remind you that other employees have the right to be released from work to undergo medical examination, but at different intervals. Thus, employees under the age of 40 must be released from work for one working day once every three years, and employees of pre-retirement and retirement age for two working days once a year. On the days of release from work to undergo medical examination, employees retain their place of work (job position) and average earnings.
Employees who have exercised their right to be released from work are obliged to provide the employer with certificates from medical organizations confirming that they have undergone medical examination on the day (days) of their release from work, if this is provided for by a local regulatory act of the organization, for example, the Internal Labour Regulations.
