Increase of the retirement age and changes in VAT were among the most debatable legal changes in 2018. The changes came in force on 1 January 2019 effectively raising the retirement age for males up to 65 and for females – up to 60.
It should be noted that the retirement age will be raised gradually. In 2019, the groups of citizens to retire are as follows:
- males born between 1 January and 30 June 1959 inclusive, at the age of 60.5
- females born between 1 January and 30 June 1964 inclusive. At the age of 55.5.
