On 13 March, BDO Unicon Outsourcing brought together HR Directors and Heads of HR Departments, who met to discuss how the duties of HR experts have changed, the new types of challenges faced today, and the new tools that are now available to the industry. Over 80 people took part in this year’s event.
Olga Filatova, former VP HR for Educational Projects at Mail.Ru Group and Founder of People Innovations, got the event off to a start with her presentation on digital transformation and the modern role of HR. According to Filatova, digitalisation has become the new reality we find ourselves living in, where it is important for every HR Manager and his or her team to show true leadership and bring change to organisations of every scale. You can learn more about how to get the transformation process started in your company and find out whether this tool is applicable to your company.
Sergey Reva, Project Manager, New Applications, Kuehne+Nagel, shared his experience of making the transition to electronic document management. This project has allowed for a transition to a self-service system for most of the processes related to employee applications and requests, and has made it possible to create a flexible system that allows processes and roles to be reassigned to meet the requirements of the business. Also, a convenient personal account has also been developed using the resources of BDO Unicon Outsourcing, where the employee can request, receive, and view all the information they need without having to contact the HR experts.
Evgenia Popovidchenko, HR Service Manager at Unilever, spoke about how RPA technologies have been applied in the company, focusing on the automation and robotisation of HR processes in particular. Evgenia shared the results gained from putting automation into practice: for the first time, the company has managed to fill 100% of its vacancies within a short period of time, saving 35% of the recruitment cost for each employee. The time period needed to get back to candidates with feedback on their job applications was also reduced from 10 days to just 2 days.
Alexandra Levitskaya, HR-Manager at VCV, shared a story of how a video interview service was implemented to interview candidates and further introduce the new employee to colleagues. 85% of the company’s employees liked the tool. And now VCV is actively offering this solution to other companies.
During the second half of the event, the participants discussed the cases put forward by the organiser: the use of video tools in HR, RPA implementation, ways of selling on-site IT solutions, etc. The HR experts had to choose one case, develop a plan to solve the issue, and present the solution to all participants at the event.
This event format was a refreshing change from the usual conferences, where you can usually hear only glossy stories from participants about successful projects. “We wanted participants to learn from real experiences of their colleagues, from the problems they face, their failures and achievements. And, judging by the reviews we have seen, we have succeeded,” said Lyudmila Shusterova, Director for Strategic Development at BDO Unicon Outsourcing and Moderator of the business breakfast meeting “Digitalisation of HR. Facts and Fiction.”
