The first version of the business process outsourcing glossary was produced by the ASTRA strategic outsourcing association on June 14. The glossary was compiled by the BPO development committee of the ASTRA association that includes the largest providers of business process outsourcing services, such as BDO, the UCMS Group, Intercomp, Grant Thornton и the ABU Accounting services.
The glossary was created with the purpose of simplifying communication between clients and service providers. The market leaders have put together a glossary that includes the most used BPO terms and provided each one with a clear-cut definition. This is supposed to help parties to outsourcing contracts in their negotiations, planning and while writing agreements. The participants of the project believe that the compilation of the glossary is the first step on the way to working out common standards of the provision of outsourcing services.
When working on the BPO glossary, Russian normative and legal documents, in-house glossaries of the companies participating in the market and foreign sources were used.
The work whose first step was the creation of the glossary will continue with the development of a single catalog of services that will include special-purpose terms that have not been included in the first version of the document.
"The creation of the glossary, – said Lyudmila Shusterova, a deputy director of the BDO outsourcing division and a member of the glossary workgroup, – is an all-new experience of joint work of Russia's outsourcing providers. Russia's BPO market is still growing and we should form it by joint effort and made it convenient for both service providers and clients. It is important that we should begin speaking a common language that all participants of the market will understand".
